The violence and rioting over the cartoons depicting Muhammed published in a Danish newspaper - last fall - has escalated. It's obvious to me that the cartoons, at this point, are tool to incite the violent response thousands of miles away from where the Danish newspaper was even seen.
I still question the judgment of the editors for publishing the cartoons it seems in an effort to offend Muslims (the cartoons were an editorial statement about the intimidation of publishers over a children's book on Islam). But it is stunning what kind of offense incites the response we've seen - cartoons satirizing Muhammed as opposed to thousands of innocents slaughtered in his name.
How PC of you! There should be nothing but outrage that individuals can murder, destroy property, and create general meyham in response to a freaking cartoon!
This is Islam! It is a religion of hate - a bloody murderous religion. It is instructive that "normal" muslims are burning down embassies and hunting the citizens of western countries and attacking their fellow country men who are not muslims.
What can be expected from the followers of a prophet who had elderly women and men murdered for making jokes and poems mocking him. One elderly women he had torn in half using camels.
not only does islam's followers enjoy murder, they prefer it performed in the most horrific manner. crucifixtion is a legal method of execution in Saudi Arabia. I wonder why!
it is the fault of the west for the perverted evil response from followers of the prophet. they've been that way from the beginning.

unfortunately the west has done much to disassociate so-called "radical islam" from western islam to the effect that the homeland of islam, where most muslims live in islam-ordered states is now considered a twisting of the faith and the more liberal minority are viewed as the correct practisers of it.
a similar trick would be to have the most starkly liberal churches draw a circle around themselves and convince folk that they are true Christianity while the historical and what we know to be more orthodox church gets cast as radical.
and of course, that's happening.
