I agree with Greg's assessment here... given that it is my life at risk, my duty as a Christian is clear. I stand for Christ, even at the risk of my life.

Here though, is a tougher scenario. What if it is me and my family involved and the threat is to their lives if I don't denounce Christ? And this is what it really comes down too, as no one reasonably expects that a person can be held to a position forced at gun point. Making the scenario even more onerous, what if one of my family members is not a Christian? The loss of their life at this point would have eternal consequences.

I think this is a possible, if not even plausible,
circumstance, given today's world, and intensifies the dilemma faced by the Christian. In my opinion, our duty to protect and ensure the safety of the family entrusted to me by God would override my non-culpatory denouncement of Christ, who being merciful and gracious would understand this position... or so I hope!
