Wesley Smith writes today (see Melinda's post below) that "The most respected science organization in the country is now formally on record as supporting the creation of new human lives explicitly as harvestable and, perhaps, patentable commodities."
The terms "harvestable" and "patentable commodities" are helpful descriptions. But keep in mind that a sound bite with simpler words may be helpful in everyday conversation:
"Using a 'leftover' embryo for research is wrong because this practice kills a human being to do research on her body with hopes of helping someone else. But creating embryos for research, whether through in vitro fertilization or cloning, is worse: that practice creates a human being solely for the purpose of killing her to do research on her body with hopes of helping someone else. Can we really distinguish that from child sacrifice?"
