I heard a lecture by Elaine Pagels, when I was in graduate school in the late 70's, touting the Gnostic Gospels as seminal in reinterpreting the New Testament. Nice to see she has not lost her touch nor her faith in an alternate history of Christianity. It simply proves that you absolutely cannot fail in academia once your accepted into the Hallelujah Chorus.
