For your example here, both virtues are contingent on the same unified nature of God. In general, this nature is eternal and is manifest in an array of temporal concepts: Holiness, Truth, Love, etc. These manifestations of the nature of God often appear conflicted when viewed through the lens of this fallen world. This is the source of theological tension. It also brings to light the need for the balance of virtue you rightfully propose.
