I agree with the need for visuals and humble approach. As someone has noted, we live in a culture that listens with its eyes and thinks with its feelings.

Did you catch the little trick that Obama craftily pulled on Keyes at the end of the exchange? In responding to Keyes' mention of slavery, Obama asserted that Keyes was comparing women "facing a difficult decision" with slaveowners. Keyes did not do that at all. Keyes compared how defenders of slavery and abortion both de-humanize their victims.

It was a slick - and dishonest - response by Obama. It was also a clever way of dismissing Keyes' position, and it played to people's emotions.

I also agree with Steve's approach, but I'm wondering if pictures would have been feasible in a forum like this. Maybe an emotional story would have helped?
