We should be ready to face our Creator at an unexpected time. Prayer for the soul of the departed is unscriptural. We cannot ask or pray to God for forgiveness for those who have passed the great divide. We have all the chances to seek His forgiveness while we are still living here on earth. "Life would soon be past, only what's done for Christ will last."

Why did this horrible thing ever happen???

"Why did this horrible thing ever happen???"

Some day God may unambiguously answer that question. In interim we can only hazard guesses.

In spite of these unknowns, there are certainties we can bring to bear on this:

- There is evil in our fallen world
- God has promised eternal security for those who place their faith in Christ
- God has promised the Holy Spirit as our comforter

"Why did this horrible thing ever happen???"

The fact that you would even ask such a question shows me you know nothing of human nature or of Islamic teaching and history.

Human beings are sinful by nature. That's why they murder and do all the other horrible things they do.

Islamic texts/tradition and the example of Mohammad teach that unbelievers like you and like me are to be hated. The options we have are 1) conversion to Islam 2) second class status under Islam (dhimmitude) or, if none of that works out 3) death.

Combine those two things and that's why this horrible thing happened.
