Going to nitpick you here, Brett. You said "worldly headship ... not giving orders, ..." I think you've made a misleading distinction. It's not about having authority but for whose benefit you use your authority.
"Do you understand what I have done to you? You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. - John 13:12-14
Jesus doesn't deny his authority. He commends the disciples for recognising it. But he exercises it for their benefit.
